Communications Update

"Well, I'll just have to ask her myself," Elizabeth muttered under her breath. "But I'm not waiting for some blasted owl."

"And how do you plan to do that?" Maria asked as the approached the Fat Lady's portrait. "Calligraphy." The lady nodded and the portrait door swung open. No sooner had they climbed inside the nearly deserted common room than Elizabeth raised her wand and muttered, "Accio W.I.C.C.A."

A small silver object came shooting down the stairs from the girl's dormoritory and into her hand.

"What is that?" James asked, staring curiously at the object now in her hand.

"Do cell phones have reception out here?" Maria questioned at the same time.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Probably not. This is a W.I.C.C.A - the wizarding equivalent of a muggle cell phone. Isn't it cute?" She held it out for them to see. The silver phone was decorated with flower and starburst stickers with a beaded charm hanging from one side. She tapped the antenae with her wand and flipped it open. "Eudora Blackstone." The display screen lit up with fluttering butterfies until, finally, her grandmother's face appeared.

"Why aren't you in class?"

I got the idea a month or so ago when I was reading the second or third HP book...whichever one where Ron tries to use a telephone. I wanted to use W.I.T.C.H as the anacronym, but couldn't figure out what to make it stand for, so I chose W.I.C.C.A instead because I wanted something witchy.
